What began as an idea from our youth and trainee representatives – as compensation for the possible felling of an old chestnut tree – has now become a sustainable project with symbolic significance: From now on, each new year of trainees will plant their own tree – as a sign of growth, responsibility and the future.
At the beginning of November, the time had come: together with our current trainees, we planted three fruit trees that are not only native to the area, but also provide valuable nourishment and pollen for insects.
The varieties ‘Jonagold’, ‘James Grieve’ and “Rubinette” were selected with valuable advice and in cooperation with the neighbouring Woelk nursery – in line with the motto ‘Support Your Local Business’.
With all the trainees who were not at BBS or on holiday, we planted the first trees and toasted together – with water for the trees and a smile for the environment, of course. 🌱
